1936 Ford Five Window Coupe Street Rod Restoration

Well to be quite honest I found this car when I was looking at a piece of real estate with my son.   She was parked in the garage looking loved, but rather neglected.  So as the saying goes: nothing ventured, nothing gained. I called everyone, to try to find out who owned this car, and, eventually, I did.   The purchase was made, and the first thing I did was get her to Boffo Motors for an evaluation.

We all thought the car was red (see photo above), however she turned purple after I cleaned her up a little bit.  Then Boffo Motors changed out all the fluids, and did some motor / transmission work, and an all around safety inspection.  At this point I could drive her home for the winter.

The previous owner Victor almost completed this restoration over eight years ago, before he passed away.  From what I can see, everything Victor purchased, and did to this car was top of the line.

So far this is what I have been able to determine: The frame is custom made, with extra cross members added.   The front suspension is a Mustang II, and the rear suspension has two traction bars, one transverse bar, that are all supported by dual coil over shocks system.  The body is steel, the fenders are fiberglass, and the front and rear original bumpers were replaced with custom made stainless bumpers. The drive train is a high performance Chevy 350 small block, automatic GM Turbo 400 transmission, and a Ford nine inch rear-end turning 33 inch slicks.  The re-restoration will begin sometime in late February or early March.
